Matt Walls just finished his season last year as a Freshman for Marshall's basketball team. Matt has announced his departure from Marshall and says it's due to personal reasons.
The Georgetown, Ky., native played 22 games, starting six, but was sidelined late in the season by a broken bone in his hand. He averaged 7.2 points and was second on the team with 36 3-point goals, but was prone to lengthy shooting slumps. He finished at 27.9 percent from behind the arc.
This may help coach Jones with the 13 scholarships he has remaining. Jones is pursuing Florida transfer Jonathan Mitchell, a 6-foot-7 sophomore forward who was a Mr. Basketball award winner in the state of New York.
